First Annual FFA Banquet and Charter Signing

On February 25, 2017, the Stanton County FFA Chapter members signed their charter to be recognized as an official FFA Chapter of the Kansas Association of the National FFA Organization. The official charter will be presented to the chapter at the Kansas State FFA Convention in May.

There were over 150 people in attendance to witness the charter signing and celebrate the chapter with the first annual FFA banquet for the Stanton County FFA Chapter. Trenton Smedley, State FFA Sentinel, was the guest speaker for the evening and provided words of encouragement for the chapter members. Grace Luebcke, State FFA Secretary, read a letter from Jackie McClaskey, Kansas Secretary of Agriculture, stating the importance of agriculture to the Kansas economy and the FFA to provide future leaders for the agriculture industry. Also in attendance was Jacob Grinstead-State FFA Treasurer, Garrett Girk-Southwest District FFA President, and Noah Ochsner-Southwest District FFA Vice-President.

Recognition was given to all members for receiving their Greenhand FFA Degree of membership. Several members were also recognized for participating in Career Development Events throughout the year. Those listed on the Principal’s Honor Roll and Honor Roll for first semester were recognized for this accomplishment. Sixty-five percent of the chapter members were listed on the honor rolls.

The Honorary Chapter FFA Degree is given to individuals that have positively impacted an FFA chapter. This year Azuree Jones, Diane Schmidt, Julia Schmidt, Taylor Jones and Caleb Sipes received this award. They were all instrumental in getting Stanton County’s chapter started and their hard work and dedication has been greatly appreciated.

The Stanton County FFA Chapter appreciates the continued support of parents, businesses and sponsors. Let the traditions begin for Stanton County FFA Chapter!
