At the TASN Co-Teaching Sustainability Summit, Monday evening, December 11, recognition was given to people who have been instrumental in the development of the TASN Co-Teaching program in Kansas. Awards were given for those who spent hours developing the definitions, assessment criteria, training materials, and everything necessary to make it work for students and teachers and to make it sustainable. The award was a gold Christmas ornament, a simple gold ball, with a blue Kansas Can card attached with a blue ribbon. Someone compared it to a Golden Globe. (haha) They called it a Kan-Can.

DeAnn was given one for being the first coach in the state to use SWIVL, a robot that enables hands-free recording, turning to face each speaker when speaking. She used her iPad to record her observation of Co-Teachers in action, and then her Post Conference with the teachers. She uploaded the recording, enabling ReNae Mann, State Trainer, to watch the lesson and the Post Conference then give her feedback over the phone on the Post Conference. This is a small step that will enable coaching to take place more quickly and easily, especially in rural areas.

Thanks DeAnn for leading the way with co-teaching in our district!
