The Stanton County Spelling Bee was held Tuesday, February 2, in the HS auditorium at 1:00 p.m.    Winning the bee and becoming the 2021 champion, was Ian Floyd, grade 8.  He will represent Stanton County at the Kansas state Sunflower Spelling Bee at Newman University, Wichita, on March 27.  There were 28 participants from grades three through eight.  After round three, only three spellers remained: Gerardo Robles, Analee Bautista, and Ian.  All three spellers missed their words in round 4, so all three remained for the next round.  Gerardo was eliminated on inexorably, Analee missed on Ganges, and Ian correctly spelled necromancer.  His championship word was carrot, which he spelled correctly, winning the title.  We all cheer Ian on and hope for his success at the Sunflower Spelling Bee.
