2016 NHS Annual Veterans Day Program

Posted Date: 11/18/2016

SCHS National Honor Society hosted the annual Veterans Day Program for veterans, community members and 7-12th graders November 11th with lunch at the 4-H building following for all veterans. This year members asked active duty member and alumni(2011) Cameron Carruth to share his experiences and what he wished he could tell his younger self.  Cameron had a wonderful presentation with lots of pictures from when he was stationed in Hawaii.  Michelle Canny and David Bowen shared a little about how it is to be the person at home supporting a family member in the military and about how important the day is to them.  Then Tyron Hudgins, also an SC Alumni, spoke about the importance of camaraderie in the military.  Caleb Carrasco, Omar Rodriguez, Carlee Gum, and Heather Julian are this years NHS officers that helped introduce everyone, pick out the videos, and share some history of why we take our hats off in respect of the flag.  Mrs. Sonja Gayer, Stanton County JR/SR High School Principal, closed the program with a poem before enjoying lunch with her father, a WWII veteran, at the 4-H building.  If you are a veteran or know one that did not receive an invitation, we would like their information, name and mailing address. Please feel free to call the HS 620-492-6284 or email us at nhs@usd452.org
