Johnson City, KS – Stanton County Health Department is announcing the first case of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Stanton County.

The case involves a young person with no travel history suggestive of COVID19. This person will remain isolated until cleared by the health department. Stanton County Health Department is working to identify any close contacts of the individual and those who were exposed will be contacted as soon as possible. We will be monitoring these contacts for fever and respiratory symptoms. No further information about the patient will be released.

The Stanton County Health Department strongly recommends heeding the governor’s orders and CDC Guidelines:

  • STAY AT HOME
  • Only go out to get essential groceries, medical attention or if you work for an essential business & can’t work from home
  • Avoid gatherings of 10 or more people
  • If you do need to go out in public, practice SOCIAL DISTANCING by remaining six feet from other people & wear a mask
  • Wash your hands often, use hand sanitizer and avoid touching your face. Clean ALL highly used surfaces daily
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick

****IF YOU ARE SICK CALL AHEAD BEFORE SEEKING MEDICAL ATTENTION****

COVID testing will only be done on those who meet KDHE criteria. The current criteria is located at this link: https://www.kdheks.gov/coronavirus/toolkit/PUI_Criteria.pdf
