Hannah White 2019 Spelling Bee Winner & Mrs. Novack

This year’s bee was short, matching last year’s six rounds.  Round five saw Hannah White and Jaxson McMillan as the only remaining spellers.  In this round, Hannah correctly spelled suffocate, then Jaxson missed his word, hibiscus.  Hannah went on to correctly spell the championship word in a solo round, making her the Stanton County Spelling Bee winner.

Congratulations to Hannah for her success.  She will be registered for the Sunflower State Spelling Bee at  Newman University in Wichita, to take place on Saturday, March 9, beginning at 9:00 a.m..  The public is always invited to attend.  The winner of the Sunflower State Spelling Bee wins a ticket to compete at the Scripps National Spelling Bee and attend a week of related activities in Washington DC.

White wins the trip to Wichita and a free one-year subscription to Encyclopedia Britannica Online. She was awarded a medal and a trophy.
