Began teaching at USD 452 fall 1981. I have taught all levels of math from 6th grade through college algebra, including a few years of junior high physical education.
Subjects: Currently 8th Mathematics, HS Geometry, HS Math Lab.
My teaching career began in the Fall of 1981, here at Stanton County. My experience of having to work my way through college and being able to graduate without debt enables me to have real conversations with students in consumer math about working hard and managing time and money to achieve their goals, whether it's college or directly into the work force.
I have 3 brothers and 1 sister, me being the middle child. Born and raised in Hutchinson, Kansas. I have never been married and have numerous nieces and nephews, and 10 great-nieces/nephews. Most of the family still resides within 30 miles of Hutch. Pets consist of two rescue cats, a longl hair gray tabby named Einstein, and a short hair gray/white tuxedo named Mouse.
When not teaching, I do enjoy attending sporting events. One of my favorites is the National Juco Tournament in Hutch. On weekends I like to take day trips to different tourist attractions in Kansas and near by Colorado. I like to read fiction, James Patterson, and Stuart Woods are a couple of authors I keep up with. Sometimes I will read some of the books I see students reading, such as the Harry Potter series, or the Wimpy Kid Diaries, just to get a feel for what they like. Putt-Putt golf is a fun activity, although it is not available out here, I do play whenever I can. Zoos are a big attraction for me, I find them relaxing and it is enjoyable to watch the animals
