Greetings Stanton County! The school year is winding down and students and staff are looking forward to a much-needed break. Everyone here at USD 452 has been busy with all of the spring activities. Junior high track was recently completed with the 8^th grade girls team earning the league title. Boys golf is concluding with Stanton County recently holding the league and regional golf meet. The girls softball team just completed their regional competition and the boys baseball team in its inaugural season just competed in the regional as well. This Friday, May 19^th at 3:00 pm, Stanton County will be hosting the regional track meet. I encourage you to come out and support the Trojan track athletes as they try to earn a spot at the state track meet.

  This summer there will be a lot going on at Stanton County JR/SR High School. Many students will be participating in their summer athletic workouts. Additionally, the maintenance staff will be overseeing many projects. In addition to their normal maintenance activities, they will be working with several contractors to provide much-needed updates to the building. The HVAC system is being upgraded and will include a system in which the air is circulated over UV lights, which, will help to combat the spread of viruses and bacteria. I’m sure it will not stop all sickness from occurring but it should help! Additionally, all of the lights in the building are being upgraded to LED lights. The ceiling tiles in the classroom and library wing are being replaced and all classrooms in that wing and the library will be painted this summer. Next summer we plan to replace the floor coverings in those areas well. We plan to work our way through the building with upgrades and renovations throughout the next few years.

  One last thing I want to bring to your attention. The general election for school boards will be November 7, 2023. If you are interested in becoming a school board member, we encourage you to run. The filing deadline is June 1, 2023 by 12:00 pm. There is a $20 filing fee and all paperwork may be picked up at the county clerk’s office. Please check the district map to determine which school board district you reside in. A map of the district may be found at the county clerk’s office and the school district office.
